Our procedures are the ultimate expression of our commitment to restoring your quality of life – simply and elegantly.
The cervical spine— or neck— is responsible for some pretty important functions. It allows movement of the head and acts as a passageway for important nerves that control arm and leg function. The most common conditions in this region of the spine include disc herniation, disc degeneration, and spinal stenosis. Any of these conditions can cause neck and shoulder pain, neck stiffness, numbness or tingling in the arms or fingers, and weakness. We can treat most of the conditions without surgery. In the few conditions that do require surgery, amazing advancements have been made, such as artificial disc replacement and microsurgery.
The thoracic spine— or middle back— is responsible for movement of the torso. It is also a passageway for some important nerves that affect balance and leg function. The most common conditions in this region of the spine include disc degeneration and stenosis. Spinal tumors may also affect this region. Any of these conditions can cause mid back pain, flank pain, bowel or bladder conditions, or difficulty with balance and walking. Fortunately, many of these problems are treated successfully with minimally invasive techniques.
The lumbar spine— or low back— is one of the most important regions of the spine. All of the body’s motion and forces are transmitted through this part of the spine. It is the passageway for all the nerves that control leg function and bowel and bladder function. The lumbar spine also allows flexibility and the ability to twist and bend. The most common conditions include disc herniation, disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, tumors, and spinal fractures. Any of these conditions can cause stiffness, pain, numbness or tingling in the legs, difficulty walking or sitting, and even bowel or bladder issues. Nonsurgical and surgical advancements in this region have been staggering. Amazingly, we now treat most of the conditions in the lumbar spine in the outpatient setting using techniques such as artificial disc replacement and microdecompression.
The spine can only function properly when all of its regions— cervical, thoracic, lumbar— are in perfect harmony and alignment. The spinal bones or discs can develop structural conditions that disrupt this harmony and this causes deformity of the spine. Deformity most commonly looks like abnormal curvature of the spine, known as scoliosis, or like “hunching” of the spine, known as kyphosis. Minimally invasive deformity correction, computer-assisted surgery, and image-guided surgery have revolutionized our ability to successfully treat these conditions.

What Patients Say About Us
Patient
I have been going to Dr. Tawfik for about two years now when I first started going to him I was walking with a cane was falling a lot and now after surgeries one at the c5 c6 and the other at my L5 S1 I am walking with no pain not falling and feel eighteen again. Thank you is not enough for someone you had given you back your life.
Patient
I fell in June. I was unable to use my right arm and leg and was very weak on my left side. Dr. Tawfik performed emergency surgery on my cervical spine. I had a Laminectomy with fusion on my cervical spine at levels C3 - C6. The next day I could actually lift my right arm and leg. Due to Dr, Tawfik"s expertise I am now able to walk and have use of my upper extremities. I know it is due to Dr. Tawfik"s care that I can now continue to live my life as I did before my accident. Thank you Dr. Tawfik and staff.
Patient
I saw Dr. Tawfik for lumbar disc issues after having seen other surgeon who could not get my surgery approved, I was referred to Dr. Tawfik and two weeks after my consult, he performed surgery. I am now almost 3 weeks post-op and am so thankful I decided to see him. He is very knowledgeable, explained options clearly and I put my trust in him 100% and he delivered. I was in severe pain and am now recovering well. His staff is amazing as well. I will definitely refer him to friend and family. Overall, just an amazing experience. Wait time in his office was so minimal, at times I didn't even sit down before they called my name.
Patient
Dr. Tamir Tawfik is an excellent physician. I can't say enough good things about my husbands experience with the surgery Dr. Tawfik did. Not only did he do an excellent job on my husbands surgery, but he is compassionate, caring and really takes the time explaining to our family what he was doing and what to expect. My husband and my entire family would agree he is an excellent neurosurgeon, and would highly recommend him.
Patient
Dr. Tawfik literally saved my husbands life. My husband fell down a set of stairs and broke multiple vertebrae. We weren't sure if he would wake up from being unconscious or if he did wake up would he be paralyzed. Dr. Tawfik walked us through his surgical plan for my husband, his recuperation period and his planned recovery. Everything went perfect and my husband was able to return to work after 6 months of healing. Dr. Tawfik and his staff were a pleasure to work with. I Highly recommend them.
Patient
I was extremely fortunate to have Dr. Tamir Tawfik consult me on an emergency basis for Cauda Equina Syndrome. He saved me from being paralyzed. There are no words to express how much I appreciate not only his expertise, bedside manner but the calm and precise way he explains procedures and update. His team is equally professional and pleasure to interact with. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate all Dr. Tawfik has done for me.
